About me
Heather Brown has been a Registered Nurse for 23 years. Her degrees include a Doctorate of Nursing Practice with Population Health emphasis, MSN-Nurse Educator emphasis, and BSN with a minor in Psychology, all from Colorado State University Pueblo. She graduated Magna Cum Laude. Awards received include Mary Kontz Evidence Based Practice, CSU Pueblo School of Nursing Excellence in Teaching, and Nightingale Luminaire Award. With her commitment to Nursing Education, she has taught for over thirteen years at CSU Pueblo, and prior at Pueblo Community College and Colorado Technical University. Her courses taught include didactic, online, lab, and clinicals in areas of Pediatrics, Med-Surg, Fundamentals, OB-GYN, Health Assessment, Evidence Based Practice and Synthesis of Nursing.
Heather’s primary areas of interest are Pediatrics and Mental Health. She has maintained her Nationally Certified Pediatric Nurse (CPN) status for the past several years. Her nursing career in Pediatrics has spanned over 20 years and included pediatric acute care, school nursing, and pediatric education.
She is the Leadership Succession Chair and Faculty Counselor of the Iota Pi Sigma Nursing Honor Society. Her husband, son, and daughter bring her the greatest joy. They savor moments at Lake Pueblo, walks especially at sunset, and adventures throughout Colorado.
